Israeli raids targeting the Syrian provinces

Today, Sunday, areas in the countryside of Hama governorate, central Syria, were not spared from unknown raids that targeted the Masyaf area. As Damascus directed the accusing fingers at Israel.

A military source affiliated with the regime indicated that 3 soldiers were wounded in the “Israeli attack”, which targeted the countryside of Hama and Tartous, according to the Syrian news agency “SANA”.

Where he explained that bursts of missiles were launched from the direction of northern Lebanon towards the countryside of Hama and Tartous, but the air defense intercepted them and shot down some of them. “The attack also resulted in some material losses,” he added.

For his part, the director of the Syrian Observatory confirmed that the targeted area in Masyaf is not military, pointing to the killing of two Iranian fighters. He added, “The Israeli bombardment targeted a weapons depot belonging to Iranian militias in a mountainous area overlapping the governorates of Tartous (west) and Hama (center).”

The Masyaf region includes the “Scientific Research” center, which has been raised a lot about it during the past years, especially in terms of its inclusion of centers for the manufacture of missiles and chemical weapons, supervised by Iranian engineers and experts.

This center has also been subjected to many Israeli strikes and raids since 2017

In August 2018, this center was subjected to violent strikes that caused great damage to its departments, according to what satellite images showed at the time, a month after the assassination of its director, Aziz Esber, who was considered one of the most prominent names in the Syrian regime’s missile program.

It is also noted that Israel has carried out hundreds of strikes on targets within the regions in Syria over the past years, but it rarely admits or discloses the details of these operations.

However, it has repeatedly confirmed that it will not accept Iranian expansion on Syrian territory, or the existence of a security threat on its borders and bases belonging to Iran, especially the Lebanese Hezbollah.
