8 Killed and 15 Injured in Fire at Market in Northern China

At least 8 people were killed and 15 others injured in a fire that broke out on Saturday morning at a vegetable market in Changjiako, northern China.
The fire started at 8:40 AM local time and was extinguished after about an hour by firefighters.

The injured were transferred to the hospital, with reports indicating that their condition is stable and not life-threatening.
Chinese authorities are investigating the cause of the fire, while videos from the scene showed large plumes of black smoke and flames rising over the market.

The fire occurred at the Li Guang market, one of the largest markets in the city, which sells a variety of goods ranging from fruits and seafood to electronics. China frequently experiences deadly fires, often due to lax building and safety regulations.

In July, at least 16 people were killed in a fire at a shopping center in the city of Zigong, located in southwestern China.
