A laugh.. it could lead to the fate of the next German chancellor

Armin Laschet, the candidate for German chancellor to replace Angela Merkel, has come under fire for laughing as he escorted the country’s president, Frank Steinmeier, to a flood-affected area.
Although Laschet offered his apology to the German people via a tweet on Twitter, it may seem insufficient given the scale of the disaster that has befallen the country.
In his tweet, Laschet said: “The fate of those affected is close to our hearts and we have heard about him in many conversations. However, I regret the impression that emerged from a conversation I was having. This was inappropriate and I am sorry.”
Germany was hit by historic floods that killed more than 150 people and damaged infrastructure, in addition to a large number of missing persons.
