A Libyan official calls for a state of emergency to be declared

The director of the Center for Disease Control in Libya called for declaring a state of emergency in the country for a period of one year to confront the effects of the flood disaster and the damage it caused.
He said in statements today: “A state of emergency must be declared for one year in all affected cities.”
He stressed that the water in Derna is polluted and unfit for drinking, and all water desalination plants are stopped.
In addition, the spokesman for the International Red Cross in Libya confirmed that the scale of the disaster in the hurricane areas is very large and there is a need for international support.
