A Syrian-Emirati agreement to boost the economy

The Syrian and Emirati economy ministers agreed on future plans to enhance economic cooperation between the two countries and explore new sectors in the next stage.
The UAE Ministry of Economy said that the two ministers met on the sidelines of the Dubai Expo, noting that the meeting came with the aim of enhancing means of economic cooperation between the two countries.
The ministry added: “During the meeting, the two sides approved action plans to create new paths for economic integration and develop exchange in some important sectors on both sides.”
The UAE Minister of Economy revealed that the volume of non-oil trade exchange during the past year 2020 amounted to about 2.6 billion dirhams, while during the first half of this year 2021 it amounted to about one billion dirhams, while the value of Syrian direct investment in the UAE exceeded 1.5 billion dirhams at the end of 2019.
