After a lackluster performance in the groups, Côte d’Ivoire won the African Cup

The Ivory Coast (Côte d’Ivoire) national team won the African Cup of Nations title by defeating Nigeria (2-1) on Sunday evening in the final match held at the Alassane Ouattara Stadium in Abidjan.

Although the Nigerian national team took the lead in the match since the 38th minute through its captain, William Ekong, Ivory Coast was able to turn the tables on the visitors, in the 62nd minute, with a wonderful goal scored by Franck Kesé, followed by the winning goal by Sebastien Haller in the 81st minute.

The Ivorian national team won the tournament for the third time in its history after the 1992, 2015 and finally 2023 editions, after a very bad journey in the beginning and a poor performance during which it qualified from the group stage among the best third-place finishers, but it achieved the championship in the end.
