After Norway, Ireland and Spain…a new European country joins the list of those recognizing the Palestinian state

The Parliament in Slovenia agreed to officially recognize the independent Palestinian state individually, regardless of the United Nations and Security Council resolutions in this regard, making it the fourth country after Spain, Ireland, and Norway to take that step.

This comes after the country’s government had previously referred the draft law for approval by Parliament, the majority of whose members sought to support the law, as the ruling coalition has a majority of 51 seats in Parliament out of 90, while opinion polls had indicated that 60% of the country’s population supported the move. In contrast to 20% of opponents.

The United States of America has blocked several projects for official recognition of the Palestinian state in the Security Council by using its veto power, as it believes that recognizing the Palestinian state individually without finding a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian issue is useless.
