After the Emirates, another Gulf country returns its ambassador to Damascus

The King of Bahrain, Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, issued a decree appointing an ambassador for the Kingdom to Syria, for the first time since 2012, after Manama closed its embassy in Damascus during the outbreak of the Syrian war.
“Ambassador Waheed Mubarak Sayyar is appointed as head of the diplomatic mission of the Kingdom of Bahrain to the Syrian Arab Republic with the title of Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary,” the royal decree published by the Bahrain News Agency stated.
Bahrain closed its embassy in Damascus and withdrew all its diplomats and staff in March 2012 after the outbreak of war in Syria, and then reopened the embassy again in December 2018.
