Bono shines as Al Hilal hold Real Madrid to a draw in the opening match of Group H at the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup

Al Hilal secured a valuable 1-1 draw against Spanish side Real Madrid in their Group H opener at the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. The match was held at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami, United States.

The match started with intensity from both sides. Real Madrid took the lead in the 33rd minute through Gonzalo Garcia, who capitalized on a well-executed counterattack and struck a powerful shot past goalkeeper Yassine Bounou.

Al Hilal responded shortly after. Following sustained pressure, Marcos Leonardo earned a penalty in the 40th minute, which was successfully converted by Rúben Neves to level the score. The first half ended 1-1.

In the second half, both teams exchanged control and created opportunities. A shot from Arda Güler hit the post, while Bounou made another key save to deny a dangerous header from Garcia.

In the 90th minute, the referee awarded a penalty to Real Madrid after a VAR review of a challenge by Yasser Al-Qahtani on Ferran Garcia. However, Federico Valverde failed to convert the spot kick, with Bounou making an impressive save to preserve the draw.

With this result, both Al Hilal and Real Madrid earned one point each, ahead of their upcoming matches against Pachuca and Red Bull Salzburg in the group stage.
