Al-Sadr calls for early elections in Iraq

The leader of the Sadrist movement, Muqtada al-Sadr, called on his supporters to continue the sit-in they had started in Parliament in the Green Zone, and called for early parliamentary elections.
In today’s statements, Al-Sadr said, “What is happening in the revolution is not a power struggle,” stressing that there is no point in dialogue after the people have said their word.
He promised that the old faces would not exist through an early democratic electoral process after the parliament was dissolved.
Al-Sadr revealed that he has not yet decided whether to run in the new elections or not.
