Ambassador of Turkey in Israel

In a new and surprising step, within the framework of the efforts exerted to normalize relations between Turkey and Israel, Turkey has appointed a new ambassador to Israel, noting that since May 2018, Turkey and Israel have not exchanged ambassadors due to the political crisis over the transfer of the American embassy from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem.

According to Al-Monitor, the new ambassador is Uvuk Olotas (40 years old), head of the Strategic Research Center at the Turkish Foreign Ministry.

He has served as president of SETA, a pro-government think-tank, and has written a number of research papers on Middle Eastern politics and Jewish history and is considered an expert on Iran.
