An Egyptian-Lebanese agreement, what is the role of Syria?

The Lebanese Minister of Energy, Walid Fayyad, signed an official agreement between Syria, Lebanon and Egypt to transport 650 million cubic meters of Egyptian gas annually to Lebanon through Jordan and Syria, which contributes to solving the electricity crisis in Lebanon.
Fayyad said, “The transported gas will reach the Deir Ammar plant to generate electric power, where the electric supply will increase by the equivalent of an additional 4 hours.”
He also added, “The agreement would not have occurred without Egypt’s adoption of the project from the first moment, following it up in its details and supporting all its stages, leading to securing an increase in the quantity.”
Lebanese media also indicated that the implementation will not take place soon, “pending an American green light,” and Lebanon’s completion of technical and logistical preparations.
