An Emirati court sentences three individuals to death. How is this verdict connected to Israel?
The Federal Appeal Court of Abu Dhabi issued a death sentence on Monday for three Uzbek nationals, Olimpi Tohirovich (28 years old), Mahmoudjon Abdulrahim (28 years old), and Azizbek Kamilovich (33 years old), for their involvement in the murder of Israeli-Moldovan citizen Zavi Kogan in November 2024. A fourth defendant in the case was sentenced to life imprisonment.
Zavi Kogan served as a representative of the “Chabad” Orthodox Jewish movement, which works to establish connections with secular and unaffiliated Jews, as well as those belonging to other denominations. The incident began when Kogan’s family reported his disappearance, prompting Emirati authorities to form a search and investigation team. Subsequent investigations led to the discovery of Kogan’s body and the identification of the three perpetrators.
