Assad issues a decree to support the pharmaceutical industry in Syria

Syrian President Bashar al-Assad issued a new presidential decree to grant the necessary facilities for the continuation of the pharmaceutical industry in the country that suffers from siege and sanctions, after a short period of a 30 percent increase in drug prices.
The Presidency of the Syrian Republic said that with the aim of continuing the measures in support of the local pharmaceutical industry and its requirements in light of the difficult conditions that this sector is going through due to the coercive economic sanctions imposed on Syria, and the high costs of shipping raw materials used in the human pharmaceutical industry as a result of the developments of the Covid-19 epidemic.
She added that President al-Assad issued a decree extending the provisions of Decree No. 14 of 2020, which exempts production requirements and raw materials entering the human pharmaceutical industry from customs duties specified in the customs tariff schedule, and from all taxes and other fees imposed on import… until July 31, 2022.
