Ballon dOr 2025: Ousmane Dembélé Crowned Best Player in the World
Paris hosted a glittering night of football on Monday as Ousmane Dembélé, the French international and Paris Saint-Germain star, won the prestigious Ballon dOr 2025 award, organized by France Football.
Dembélé Wins Ballon dOr 2025
The award was presented by Brazilian legend Ronaldinho, who revealed Dembélé as the winner after a tense build-up. The PSG winger beat Spanish prodigy Lamine Yamal, who instead secured the Kopa Trophy for Best Young Player in the World for the second year in a row.
Mohamed Salah Finishes Fourth
Liverpool and Egypt star Mohamed Salah came in fourth place, just behind Vitinha, PSG’s Portuguese midfielder who finished third. Barcelona’s Brazilian winger Raphinha ranked fifth.

Ballon d’Or Féminin 2025
On the women’s side, Barcelona and Spain star Aitana Bonmatí claimed the Ballon dOr Féminin 2025 for the third consecutive year. She received the award from Spanish icon Andrés Iniesta, whom she described as her role model and greatest source of inspiration.
Bonmatí beat Mariona Caldentey (Arsenal) into second place and Alessia Russo (Arsenal) into third. The top five was completed by Alexia Putellas (Barcelona) and Chloe Kelly (Arsenal). Other names in the top ten included Patricia Guijarro, Leah Williamson, Eva Pajor, Lucy Bronze, and Hannah Hampton.
Other Individual Awards
Gianluigi Donnarumma (Manchester City) won the Yashin Trophy for Best Goalkeeper.
Luis Enrique, PSG’s coach, received the Johan Cruyff Award for Best Men’s Coach. The Spaniard appeared via video message as his team played Marseille in Ligue 1 the same evening, thanking the club, staff, and players for a “historic season.”
Yamal Retains the Kopa Trophy
Barcelona’s teenage sensation Lamine Yamal (18) retained the Kopa Trophy as the best young footballer in the world, marking his second consecutive triumph.
He beat a shortlist of promising talents, including Ayoub Boudaoui (Lille), Pau Cubarsí (Barcelona), Kenan Yıldız (Juventus), and Rodrigo Mora (Porto).
