Barcelona’s first official comment on Lionel Messi’s return to the team

The vice-president of FC Barcelona settled the controversy over recent media reports about the return of Argentine club Barcelona legend Lionel Messi to the club’s ranks next summer.
“Yes,” Rafa Yuste said in a press conference today, Friday, in response to a question about whether the club was communicating with Messi, adding, “Messi and his family know how much we appreciate them and the affection we have towards them.”
Yusti hoped that the club would find a way to give Messi the opportunity to complete his history in Barcelona.
This coincided with French press reports indicating the bad relationship between the World Cup champion and the capital club, Paris Saint-Germain, and that he was no longer willing to renew his contract with the club, which opened the doors again to the possibility of his return to his original home.
Messi left Barcelona for free in the summer of 2021 due to the financial crisis that hit the club and his inability to renew his contract due to the rules of fair financial play and to allow the Blaugrana to register newcomers at the time.
