Berri Calls for a Session to Elect a New President on January 9, 2025

Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri has called for a public session on Thursday, January 9, 2025, at 11:00 AM, to elect a new president of the republic. This call comes at a time when Lebanon has been experiencing an ongoing presidential vacuum for an extended period.
In this context, former Deputy Speaker of the Parliament, Elie Ferzli, pointed out that the alignment of local, regional, and international will regarding the presidential election has not yet been completed, noting that Lebanon may witness developments in positions in the coming days. Ferzli added that no consensus has been reached yet on a presidential candidate and confirmed that dialogue between Ain al-Tineh and Ma’arab continues.
