Berri to Be Decisive in Presidential Election Session

Lebanese Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri confirmed that he will be “decisive” in the upcoming session for the election of the President of the Republic on January 9, even if it requires holding more than one round during the same session.

In an interview with An-Nahar newspaper, Berri said: “The important thing is for Parliament to elect a president and for the MPs to take responsibility regarding this constitutional duty.”

Regarding the ongoing Israeli violations in the south, Berri emphasized the need for the monitoring committee, along with UNIFIL, to fulfill their responsibilities. He pointed out that Israel must withdraw from the towns it has entered, and the Lebanese army should deploy in these areas, no more and no less.
