Birth of a Baby Without a Brain… Latest Health Developments in Gaza
The director of field hospitals at the Ministry of Health in Gaza confirmed that cases of illness and death due to malnutrition are steadily increasing, with 53 fatalities recorded since the resumption of the Israeli war.
He stated that thousands of children and women line up daily at food distribution centers, highlighting the birth of a baby girl without a brain on Friday, attributing the condition to the mother’s malnutrition.
In an interview with Al Jazeera, the director noted a widespread outbreak of skin diseases and infectious illnesses in Gaza due to water contamination, as the territory lacks access to clean water.
He added that patients suffering from kidney disease and cancer are losing their lives because of the blockade, and that most blood donors are themselves anemic.
In a related context, Kuwait Specialized Hospital in Rafah is facing a severe crisis due to a major shortage of essential medicines and critical food supplies for patients. Gaza is currently experiencing a shortage of more than 75% of vital medications.
