The Israeli army announced in an urgent statement on its X account moments ago that its fighter jets carried out an airstrike in the southern suburbs of Beirut. The strike targeted a Hezbollah operative who was allegedly directing Hamas members to carry out what Israel described as a serious attack against Israelis in the near future. The operation was conducted jointly by the Israeli Air Force and the Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency).
