Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel Aati, during his meeting with Lebanese Prime Minister Nawaf Salam, reaffirmed Egypt’s consistent position in supporting Lebanon’s sovereignty and national unity, enhancing the Lebanese state’s ability to maintain control over its entire territory and address Israeli violations. He emphasized the full and impartial implementation of United Nations Security Council Resolution 1701, while stressing ongoing coordination and cooperation between Cairo and Beirut.

The meeting also addressed recent regional developments, particularly the situation in the Gaza Strip. Abdel Aati reviewed Egypt’s efforts, in coordination with regional and international parties, to reinforce the Sharm El-Sheikh peace agreement and fully implement its provisions, paving the way for reconstruction and development in the sector. Preparations are underway for the Cairo Conference on Early Recovery and Reconstruction, with broad Arab and international participation. The discussions further highlighted strengthening bilateral relations between Egypt and Lebanon across political, economic, and cultural fields, and activating existing agreements and memoranda of understanding.

A spokesperson for the Egyptian Foreign Ministry emphasized Cairo’s commitment to continue coordination and consultation with Beirut, reflecting the special brotherly relations between the two countries, enhancing economic and trade partnerships, and intensifying dialogue on shared concerns to ensure regional stability.

Additionally, Egyptian General Intelligence Director Major General Hassan Mahmoud Rashad recently met with Lebanese President Joseph Aoun in Beirut, discussing the security and military situation in southern Lebanon. The meeting highlighted Egypt’s support in reinforcing political and security stability in the country, while President Aoun requested a Gaza-like agreement for southern Lebanon.
