Ceuta crisis: Spanish military mobilization to face new migrant wave on August 15
Cadena Ser radio reported that the Ceuta military command ordered troops to prepare to prevent a new attempt to cross the city’s borders, following social media calls to organize a new wave of migrants heading to Ceuta on August 15.
The radio station said the Ceuta general command ordered all military personnel without exception to be on standby to carry out necessary tasks to prevent a new border crossing attempt, with military leaves cancelled until further notice.

Earlier, 20 Minutos newspaper reported that calls were spreading on social networks to organize a new wave of migrants heading to Ceuta on August 15, amid the continued security alert imposed by Spanish authorities following last month’s mass migrant influx.

72,000 migrants entered Ceuta in late July
Ceuta, the Spanish autonomous city located in North Africa on the border with Morocco, witnessed a sharp rise in migrant numbers in late July, with many attempting to reach it by swimming and on foot.
It was reported that some 72,000 people entered the city, with most returning to their countries, while Moroccan authorities estimated the number who managed to enter at around 40,000.
Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez described the mass flow of migrants across the border as an “attack” and a violation of the country’s territorial integrity, with authorities sending additional police, Civil Guard, and military units to the city.
