Violent clashes with heavy and medium weapons between regime forces and Iranian militias on the one hand, and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (formerly al-Nusra) on the other, following an attack by the latter’s elements on the Basarton axis in the western countryside of Aleppo.
According to the information, the clashes left at least 13 people dead and injured, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
On Tuesday, the Observatory continued, that the clashes erupted as a result of an attack by Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham on the Sartoun axis, and that it resulted in the death and injury of about 11 fighters in the ranks of the regime forces, and the death of two members and the wounding of others in the ranks of the Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham.
In a related context, he indicated that the regime forces bombed with heavy artillery the city of Sarmin in the eastern countryside of Idlib, adjacent to the clashes area, where 3 shells landed between civilian homes, and shells fell on the town of Kansafra in the southern countryside of Idlib.
It is noteworthy that the areas of Aleppo countryside witness military operations and infiltration from time to time, the intensity of which has escalated since the beginning of the new year.
These clashes come within the framework of the continuous escalation by the Turkish-backed factions in northern Syria, according to the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights.
