Court ruling prevents US authorities from reviewing documents confiscated from Trump’s home

A US judge has refused to allow the Justice Department to complete a review of classified records seized by the FBI from Donald Trump’s Florida home as part of an ongoing criminal investigation into the ex-president’s removal of classified documents from the White House.

Federal District Judge Elaine Cannon has also appointed Judge Raymond Deere, a senior district court judge, as a third party to review documents confiscated by the FBI for material that could be subject to a lien to keep it away from federal investigators.

The Justice Department asked the judge, on Sept. 8, to partially lift previous restrictions that prevented department investigators from reviewing all confiscated documents so they can at least continue to scrutinize documents classified as classified.
