Crisis with the Maldives… Israeli tourists are deprived of summer vacation

The office of the President of the Republic of the Maldives in the Indian Ocean announced on Sunday that holders of Israeli passports would be banned from entering the country, and that a subsidiary would be formed to audit and supervise the process, against the backdrop of escalating Arab anger in the Muslim-majority country due to the war on Gaza, according to what was reported by the Times of Israel newspaper. .

The country’s president’s office also said that it intends to appoint a special envoy to assess Palestinian needs and launch a fundraising campaign.

In response to these measures, the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs responded that it recommended that Israelis not travel to the Maldives, including those holding dual passports, and recommended that Israelis there consider leaving, because if they find themselves in distress, it will be difficult to provide assistance, according to what was stated in the Israeli Foreign Ministry’s statement.

It is noteworthy that more than 11,000 Israelis entered the Maldives during the past summer season, representing 0.6 of the total number of tourists in the country, which is famous for its luxurious tourist resorts.
