Cyprus prepares for Syria

Turkish Cyprus raised the state of alert to face the oil spill from Syria, following a hole in one of the fuel tanks in the Syrian coastal city of Banias a few days ago.
A satellite survey image showed a large oil slick approaching the eastern coasts of Turkish Cyprus.
Turkish Cypriot Prime Minister Ersan Saner announced the formation of a crisis cell to monitor the oil spill.
The Turkish Anadolu Agency said that a specialized Turkish team will arrive on the island today, Tuesday, to discuss the steps to be taken to avoid the damage that the leak coming from the Syrian coast may cause.
