Daily Report September 13, 2026: Southern Lebanon Escalates as Hormuz Talks Are Delayed
Daily Report, September 13, 2026 covers the latest developments in southern Lebanon, the Strait of Hormuz, Yemen, Syria, Gaza and the Russia-Ukraine war. Israeli strikes continued in Lebanon as plans emerged for a meeting between the Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors in Washington. Oman, meanwhile, postponed a regional meeting on navigation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Southern Lebanon: Israeli Strikes Continue
Israel carried out a series of attacks across southern Lebanon on September 13. According to a field tally by Profile News correspondents, airstrikes hit Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Kfar Tibnit, Ali al-Taher, the outskirts of Mifdoun, al-Qantara, Wadi Zibqin, the area between Hadatha and Haris, and al-Mansouri.
Artillery fire hit Wadi al-Salouqi, Zawtar al-Sharqiya, al-Mansouri, Wadi Zibqin, Hadatha, Beit Yahun, Nabatieh al-Fawqa, Srebbine, Kfar Tibnit and Ali al-Taher. Explosions were also reported in Beit Yahun, al-Mansouri, al-Tiri, Majdal Zoun, al-Qantara, Zawtar al-Sharqiya and Kounine. Sound bombs were reported in al-Mansouri and illumination flares over Houla and Markaba.
Israeli media reported a localized troop movement in the Ali al-Taher heights. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said Israel would not leave what it calls a “security zone” or withdraw from southern Lebanon before Hezbollah is disarmed.
The developments followed those covered in the September 12 Daily Report, including President Joseph Aoun’s visit to Nabatieh and continued Israeli strikes in the south.
The Lebanese and Israeli ambassadors are due to meet in Washington next week. The next round of formal talks between the two sides is expected in Rome in October.
Strait of Hormuz: Vessel Hit, Oman Meeting Postponed
One person was killed after an attack on a vessel in the Strait of Hormuz. Iranian media said an Iranian commercial vessel was attacked near Qeshm Island.
Separately, the United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations said a vessel was struck by a projectile while transiting the area, sparking a fire and prompting an evacuation. It was unclear whether the two reports referred to the same incident.
Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi later announced the postponement of a regional meeting scheduled for Monday to discuss possible navigation arrangements in the strait. No new date was announced.
The incident followed an attack on Saudi Arabia’s East-West oil pipeline, which carries Saudi crude to the Red Sea and bypasses the Strait of Hormuz.
Yemen: Fighting Continues as Displacement Rises
Government-aligned forces in Yemen said 500 of their personnel were killed and 1,500 wounded in fighting on the western coast between August 9 and September 10. They accused the Houthis of receiving support from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and its allies and said their forces had repositioned along new defensive lines.
Government military sources later reported retaking positions west of Taiz and advancing into new areas with air support. Strikes also continued in Mokha and Dhubab. The fighting follows a Houthi advance near Bab al-Mandeb in recent days.
The International Organization for Migration said about 85,000 people had been displaced by the fighting, with around 2,000 reaching Djibouti.
Syria and Turkey Discuss SDF, Southern Syria
Syrian and Turkish officials met in Damascus to discuss the Syrian Democratic Forces and their integration into state institutions, as well as developments in southern Syria and Israeli military activity. Syria’s foreign minister said Damascus was working toward a single national army and placing weapons under state authority.
Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan said President Recep Tayyip Erdogan would visit Syria soon and stressed the need to implement the integration of armed groups into state institutions. Reports also said Israeli forces entered parts of the Quneitra countryside and fired artillery toward the outskirts of Beit Jinn in the western Damascus countryside.
Russia and Ukraine: Drone Attack Hits Tatarstan
Russian authorities said two people were killed and 14 wounded in a Ukrainian drone attack on Tatarstan. The attack came amid continued long-range strikes by Russia and Ukraine.
U.S. President Donald Trump said Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky should stop attacks on Russian fuel facilities. Separately, Trump said Iran wanted an agreement but that he would not sign a deal he considered unacceptable.
Al-Aqsa and Gaza: Casualties and Hospital Shortages
The Jerusalem Governorate said 593 Israeli settlers entered the Al-Aqsa Mosque compound during morning and evening periods, amid Israeli restrictions on Palestinian worshippers.
In Gaza, the Palestine Red Crescent Society said two people were killed and 13 wounded in an Israeli strike on a vehicle in Gaza City’s Tel al-Hawa neighborhood.
Gaza’s Health Ministry said several hospital generators had stopped operating because of shortages of oil, fuel and spare parts. The Civil Defense said the remains of 17 people were recovered from the rubble of destroyed homes in the Gaza and Central governorates.

Israeli strikes continued in southern Lebanon on September 13 as Washington and Rome prepared to host diplomatic contacts between Lebanon and Israel.
