Damascus International Airport to Resume International Flights Starting January 7, 2025

Syrian authorities announced on Saturday that Damascus International Airport will resume international flights to and from the Syrian capital starting Tuesday, January 7, 2025, after a pause following the ousting of the previous regime.

The Director of the Civil Aviation Authority, Ashad Al-Sleibi, explained that the resumption of flights follows the rehabilitation of the airport in collaboration with international partners, with the aim of restoring its capacity to welcome flights from around the world.

Qatar Airways also announced it will resume flights to Damascus from the same date, a move it considered a “milestone” in reconnecting the region after years of conflict.

Previously, Damascus Airport had suspended international flights due to security concerns following repeated airstrikes. However, with the situation stabilizing somewhat recently, the airport has partially resumed operations, including domestic flights.
