Days After the Signal App Scandal… Another Similar Controversy in the White House

The American newspaper The Washington Post has revealed that U.S. National Security Advisor Mike Waltz used his Gmail account for official correspondence.

This comes just days after another similar case was exposed, involving Waltz and other officials who discussed sensitive information regarding the coordination of a U.S. attack plan on Yemen via the Signal app.

According to the newspaper, Google’s Gmail service is less secure than Signal’s encrypted messaging system, but both cases constitute violations of online information security protocols.

The information shared by Waltz through his Gmail account reportedly included his daily schedule and other documents related to his work in U.S. national security. Additionally, one of his colleagues used a Gmail account to conduct “highly technical discussions with officials from other departments regarding sensitive military locations and powerful weapons systems linked to an ongoing conflict,” according to The Washington Post, which stated that it had reviewed some of these emails.
