“Diphtheria”, which is rampant in Nigeria and kills 25 people

Diphtheria disease has been rampant in a Nigerian state and has so far killed 25 people, mostly children.
Diphtheria is caused by bacteria, wedge diphtheria, and diphtheria is characterized by sore throat, mild fever, and the appearance of a adhesive membrane (false membrane) on the tonsils and pharynx, or nasal cavity.
Some effects of this disease can appear on the skin, and in uncommon cases can cause inflammation of the heart muscle (about 20% of cases), or peripheral neuropathy (about 10% of cases).
