Diplomatic tension between Turkey and Iran, and the summoning of the Turkish ambassador.

The Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Turkish ambassador in the country today, Monday, following statements made by Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan.
In his press statements, Fidan said, “Tehran has paid a high price to maintain its influence in Iraq and Syria, and the cost incurred was much greater than what was achieved.”
Fidan added, “Iran’s foreign policy, which is tied to its proxies in the region, involves significant risks despite the gains achieved… Tehran has incurred a higher cost to maintain the groups affiliated with it in the region.”
The Turkish minister emphasized the need to abandon the policy of dominance in the region, suggesting that “authorities in Tehran will think differently after the developments in the region by developing relations with other countries.”
It is noted that the relationship between the two neighbors has been diplomatically strained since the fall of the Syrian regime led by Bashar al-Assad, an ally of Iran, at the hands of Syrian military groups affiliated with Turkey.
