The Doctrine as an Intellectual Reference 

The Social Nationalist Doctrine forms the intellectual foundation for all our actions, words, activities, and decisions. It embodies the accumulated wisdom, energy, and guiding principles of thought.23 It is “the fundamental truth through which we forge a people and a nation, and for which we strive. Any other effort— political or organizational—becomes meaningless without it and will fail unless it is rooted in and returns to it. It serves as the central axis of life and thought, with every action needing to revolve around it.”24 

This doctrine is a new philosophical-ethical belief system embedded in the Social Nationalist principles. These principles are not merely a political strategy to be adopted or abandoned at will, nor are they abstract ideas or “beautiful images on paper, but rather an active force in life.”25 Th The Doctrine as an Intellectual and Philosophical Reference

In short, this doctrine constitutes a framework for national revival and true societal reform, aiming to restore the vitality of the nation and its pioneering role in civilization, contributing to “the advancement and betterment of human society.”26 As Saadeh states, “The Syrian Social Nationalist principle offers salvation not only for Syria but for the entirety of human society. Our renaissance does not merely address our own needs but responds to universal human necessities.”27 

  The Importance of the Doctrine 

From the very inception of the movement, Saadeh underscored the doctrine’s vital importance. He insisted on the need to study and teach it, firmly embed it within the party, disseminate it among the people, and instil it in their hearts. This is because the doctrine represents the fundamental truth from which we begin, for which we struggle, and through which our souls attain immortality. “It is the foundation upon which we build all our institutions and the reference for all our party plans”28—whether administrative, political, cultural, media-related, economic, or social. 

In his lecture at the Conference of Social Nationalist Teachers, Saadeh emphasized the “importance of education and intellectual cultivation” in the new principles. He clarified that “the first step the Syrian Social Nationalist Movement had to take to advance was to teach the doctrine and the purpose it seeks to achieve.” 

 Conclusion: 

The Syrian Social Nationalist Doctrine is the strongest bond that unites us in a shared faith, a unified system, and a common purpose. Saadeh emphatically states, “Our renaissance cannot rise unless our doctrine stands as the strongest bond among us.”29 

Thanks to this unifying doctrine, the social nationalist movement, up until Saadeh’s martyrdom, remained “a broad and popular movement that fused different mentalities in its crucible, forming from them a single social nationalist psyche, with a clear purpose in life and a unified will that acts through all its members. It leads them in interconnected ranks, united in the resolve that their fate—whether rising or falling—shall be the same. And in this decision, they remain united in all circumstances.”30 

Will these faithful masses once again become, as Saadeh envisioned, one unified force, standing in tightly linked ranks, actively engaging in a real and transformative struggle to achieve their noble aspirations?
