East Economic Forum kicks off in Russia

The launch of the activities and work of the Al-Sharq Economic Forum begins in the Russian city of Vladivostok, amid wide international participation and taking into account sanitary and epidemiological precautions.
The forum is also the second largest major event taking place in Russia in light of the Corona pandemic after the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum, which was held earlier this year.
The forum will be held in a mixed format, where guests will participate in person and some remotely via the Internet, and the event is expected to attract more than 4,000 participants.
Russian President Vladimir Putin will personally participate in the forum, where he will attend the plenary session of the forum, while the presidents of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Zumart Tokayev and Mongolia, Okhnajin Khursukh, will participate remotely via the Internet.
The forum will be held from 2-4 September 2021, and the main theme of this year’s forum is “The New Opportunities of the Far East in a Changing World,” according to the statement published by the organization responsible for organizing the economic event.
The Al Sharq Economic Forum’s business program, which was published on the forum’s official website today, includes more than 70 trade events, including discussion sessions, round tables, business dialogues and international conferences.
According to a Russian government official, representatives from more than 60 countries will participate in the forum. Due to the geographical location of the Russian city of Vladivostok, the forum usually witnesses a wide participation of the business sector from Asian countries, especially from China and Japan.
The forum is an important platform to highlight the incentives granted by the Russian government to encourage investments in the Far East.
