Egypt tells Congress that efforts must be intensified to stop the war in Gaza

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi stressed the need to intensify efforts to contain tension in the region and stop the Gaza war, in order to put an end to the ongoing humanitarian tragedy experienced by the people of the Gaza Strip, and prevent the expansion and spread of the conflict.
This came during his meeting with a delegation of members of the US Congress from both the Democratic and Republican parties, headed by Senator Jerry Moran, a member of the Senate Appropriations Committee. During the meeting, Sisi stressed the dangers resulting from the Israeli military operations in the Palestinian city of Rafah, and their humanitarian and security repercussions, calling for the necessity of serious international engagement. In implementing the two-state solution in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions, as a path to achieving justice, peace and security for all the peoples of the region.
The official spokesman for the Egyptian Presidency also explained that the American delegation stressed that its visit comes within the framework of the special importance that its country attaches to the strategic partnership with Egypt, noting its great contribution as a pillar of regional stability, and their appreciation for the Egyptian efforts to establish peace and security in the region.
The delegation pointed to “the essential Egyptian role in advancing efforts aimed at reaching a ceasefire” in the Gaza Strip, and the exchange of detainees and prisoners, in addition to “the tremendous efforts that Egypt has made and is still making” to bring humanitarian aid to the people of Gaza.
