Egyptian Presidency Statement Clarifies Details of Sisi-Al-Sharaa Meeting in Cairo

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi held a meeting with Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa in Cairo on the sidelines of the emergency Arab summit on Palestine, marking the first official meeting between the two leaders.

According to a statement from the Egyptian Presidency spokesman, President Sisi emphasized Egypt’s commitment to supporting the Syrian people, stressing the importance of respecting their will and achieving stability and development in the country. He also highlighted the need to launch an inclusive political process in Syria, ensuring the participation of all components of society without excluding any party, and reaffirmed Egypt’s commitment to the unity of Syrian territory and rejection of any violations of its borders.

For his part, President al-Sharaa expressed his desire to strengthen Syrian-Arab relations, particularly with Egypt, praising Egypt’s role in supporting regional stability and preserving the unity of Arab states. He also expressed his eagerness to work jointly with Egypt to serve bilateral interests and address regional issues.
