Elon Musk: A Future of Humanoid Robots and a Borderless Economy at the Saudi-U.S. Economic Forum
American billionaire Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla, stated that the world is heading toward a radically new future led by humanoid robots, noting that this technology will reshape the global economy and render it virtually limitless.
Musk: Every Individual Will Own a Humanoid Robot
Speaking at the Saudi-U.S. Investment Forum in Riyadh, Musk expressed his belief that everyone will eventually want to own an intelligent robot, likening them to characters such as C3PO and R2D2 from the Star Wars franchise.
“With these robots becoming integrated into economic activities,” Musk said, “global economic output could increase tenfold, leading to the elimination of poverty and resource scarcity.”
Tesla’s “Optimus”: A Robot Capable of Everything
Musk had previously announced in October that Tesla’s “Optimus” robot is now capable of performing a variety of tasks, including household chores, childcare, and even physical interaction with objects. He noted that several of these robots were showcased during the summit, adding, “One of the robots even performed a Trump dance—it was a fun moment.”
The Future of the Economy: Universal High Income
Musk spoke of a potential economic shift from the concept of Universal Basic Income (UBI) to what he termed “Universal High Income,” where individuals could access any goods or services they desire thanks to the abundance of production enabled by robots.
He also predicted that humanoid robots will outnumber humans by 2040 and that every country will operate several advanced artificial intelligence systems.
xAI: Musk’s Vision to Seek Truth Through Artificial Intelligence
On a different note, Musk discussed his latest venture, xAI, a bold initiative in the field of Artificial General Intelligence (AGI). The company aims to develop AI systems that “seek truth,” as Musk put it, adding: “Our goal is to understand the universe—where it came from and where it is headed.”
xAI was launched through the integration of X (formerly Twitter) with Musk’s broader AI development efforts. The company is currently in the process of raising $20 billion in funding, making it the second-largest fundraising round for a startup after OpenAI’s $40 billion.
