European judicial delegation in Lebanon to investigate corruption files

A European judicial delegation from several countries arrived in Lebanon to investigate the embezzlement, whitewashing and illicit enrichment in the file of the Governor of the Bank of Lebanon, Riad Salama.
Lebanon’s Minister of Justice, Henri Khoury, said that “European requests are linked to hearing witnesses and questioning suspects in corruption files.”
He stressed that requests for judicial assistance had been transferred to the Public Prosecutor’s Office to identify the authorities involved in their implementation.
“We have received requests for judicial cooperation from France, Germany and Luxembourg in Mali’s corruption files.”
The Lebanese Minister stressed that judicial assistance, if conducted in accordance with the rules and due process, did not infringe Lebanese sovereignty.
