Field developments from Khartoum… Sudanese army nears control of the Presidential Palace

The Sudanese army launched an attack on the Rapid Support Forces today, Thursday, in central Khartoum and the surrounding area of the Presidential Palace. Military sources confirmed that the army succeeded in taking control of key roads leading to the presidential palace on Al-Qasr Street.

A field source explained that the Rapid Support Forces attempted to withdraw from the area surrounding the palace and the government ministry complex using four-wheel drive vehicles, light armored vehicles, and motorcycles. However, the army responded to the attempt using drones, resulting in the destruction of more than 30 vehicles and motorcycles, and the death of dozens of their members.

The source confirmed that the army now controls all roads leading to the palace, having closed and covered them with drones from several directions, including west of Khartoum, the industrial area, Nile Towers, the confluence of the Nile, and even Bahri city.

The war, which broke out in April 2023, has resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of people, the displacement of around 12 million individuals, and has contributed to worsening the ongoing famine crisis in the country.
