Final Communique of the Baghdad Arab Summit: Call on the International Community to End the War on Gaza

The Baghdad Summit concluded its sessions with the issuance of a final communiqué in which Arab leaders stressed the urgent need for an immediate cessation of the war on Gaza. The communiqué reaffirmed the centrality of the Palestinian cause and reiterated support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people. It called for an end to hostilities that are worsening the suffering of civilians and urged the international community to take a firm stance to halt the bloodshed and ensure the swift delivery of humanitarian aid.

The statement also underscored the importance of joint coordination to open border crossings for aid access, reiterated the rejection of all forms of forced displacement and population transfer of Palestinians, and called for the implementation of relevant United Nations Security Council resolutions on Palestine.

On Syria, the communiqué affirmed respect for the will of the Syrian people and emphasized the importance of the country’s security and stability. It condemned repeated Israeli attacks on Syrian territory and called for international pressure to put an end to these violations. The leaders also stressed the need to move forward with a comprehensive political transition, noted the negative impact of economic and financial sanctions on reconstruction efforts, and welcomed the announcement by the U.S. President to lift sanctions on Syria.

Regarding Lebanon, the statement affirmed the participating countries’ support for Lebanon’s security, stability, and territorial integrity. It also expressed endorsement of ongoing negotiations between Iran and the United States, voicing hope for positive outcomes.

On Sudan, the summit expressed solidarity with the Sudanese people and rejected foreign interference in the country’s internal affairs. It stressed the importance of preserving Sudan’s national institutions.

Concerning Yemen, the communiqué reiterated support for the Presidential Leadership Council and the government’s efforts to achieve reconciliation and bring an end to the ongoing crisis.
