Four-Hour Meeting Between Putin and Trump’s Envoy — Here’s What Was Discussed

In his first statement on the extended talks that took place earlier between Russian President Vladimir Putin and former U.S. President Donald Trump’s Middle East envoy, Steve Witkoff, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said the discussions were largely productive and provided a “necessary channel” for the exchange of information between Presidents Putin and Trump.

The meeting, which was the third of its kind since February, was held in St. Petersburg and lasted approximately four hours, during which the two parties discussed aspects of the Ukrainian settlement, according to the Kremlin’s statement.

Former President Donald Trump had recently expressed frustration over the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, criticizing the fact that the conflict had not yet ended despite weeks of negotiation efforts. He called for more decisive action to resolve the issue.

Peskov also stated earlier on Monday that the meeting did not include discussions about a potential face-to-face meeting between Putin and Trump. He emphasized that any such step would require careful preparation and that work in this regard is still ongoing — without providing further details.
