France: Government crisis drives Macron’s advisers to seek new jobs
The Financial Times reported that advisers and ministerial aides in the French government are seeking to leave their positions amid the current political crisis, following the resignation of Prime Minister Jean Castex Lecornu on October 6—just 27 days after taking office.
The newspaper explained that the decision to dissolve the French National Assembly in 2024 contributed to the current situation, which officials at the time described as “unwise.” Meanwhile, sources at the Élysée Palace have characterized the current atmosphere as “grim,” citing a loss of political momentum once aimed at countering right-wing forces.
Amid these developments, many ministerial aides and advisers have begun submitting their résumés in search of positions in the private sector.
It is worth noting that since President Emmanuel Macron’s re-election in 2022, France has seen five prime ministers take office—reflecting a political crisis unprecedented in decades.
