France Supports the Arab Plan for Gaza, and Macron Plans to Visit Egypt

French President Emmanuel Macron announced his support for the Arab plan to rebuild Gaza, stating that he will visit Egypt in early April.

At the conclusion of the European summit in Brussels on Thursday, Macron said: “I will make an official state visit to Egypt on April 7-8,” explaining that he will hold discussions regarding the Arab plan for Gaza’s reconstruction.

He emphasized the need for a ceasefire, especially after Israel resumed military operations this week, and called for the release of all hostages held by Hamas.

Macron reaffirmed that the best way to end the war in Gaza is through a political solution based on the establishment of two states—Israeli and Palestinian. He also expressed his support for the Arab plan regarding the territory.

The Arab plan was proposed in response to a U.S. initiative by former President Donald Trump, which aimed to take control of Gaza and relocate its residents to Egypt and Jordan, turning the strip into the “Riviera of the Middle East.”

Earlier, Macron had emphasized that the Arab reconstruction plan for Gaza is credible and aims to promote peace and stability, stressing the need for a political resolution to the crisis while rejecting military solutions.
