French and Swiss presidents in Iran

The Iranian parliament announced that “the Swiss and French presidents, who met Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly meeting, carried American messages.”

The head of the National Security and Foreign Policy Committee in the Iranian parliament, Vahid Jalilzadeh, said, “During his meeting with Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi, French President Emmanuel Macron was very interested in negotiating the nuclear file, and he was also carrying messages, and he was saying that if Iran followed some methods, they would understand.” They can satisfy the American side by reviving the nuclear deal.”

Jalilzadeh stated, “During his meeting with Macron, the Iranian president stressed that one damage from the nuclear agreement is sufficient, and do not ask us to be harmed again,” noting that he “firmly stressed during his meetings that Iran will not back down from the issue of the International Atomic Energy Agency’s safeguards.” .

The parliamentary official added, “Swiss President Ignacio Cassis also carried an American message to hold a bilateral meeting with Iran, but the Iranian president said that Tehran did not benefit from the past bilateral meetings and that the Americans want to negotiate in order to negotiate at a time when they are imposing embargo after embargo on real and legal people in Iran.” “.

Also, Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said earlier today that his country had received in recent days messages from officials in Washington stating their good faith and their desire to reach a solution regarding reviving the nuclear agreement.

He added that, during their stay in New York, Iranian officials held talks with representatives of the European Union and countries involved in the negotiations of the nuclear agreement, noting that those meetings during the past two days dealt with the abolition of the embargo on Iran.

The Iranian foreign minister also stated that those discussions showed the need for “a decisive will in order to reach an agreement, and in fact the American side should have the courage to take the decision that will allow us to talk about getting a good, sound and perfect agreement.”

Talks aimed at reviving the nuclear agreement stumbled, nearly a year and a half after its launch, due to the failure of the United States and Iran to agree on the final text of the agreement presented by the European mediator.

Iran demands that the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) “claims” file for finding traces of nuclear materials at three undeclared Iranian sites fall within the issue of safeguards demanded by Tehran to ensure the continuity of the agreement.

On the other hand, the United States considered that Tehran’s response to the European draft to revive the nuclear agreement signed in 2015 (between Iran on the one hand, and the permanent members of the UN Security Council in addition to Germany on the other), was not “constructive.”

On August 4, the negotiation process for reviving the agreement on Iran’s nuclear program resumed in Vienna. And witnessed the indirect participation of the United States of America.

The draft agreement deals with reducing sanctions on Iran; In exchange for the nuclear steps needed to put the Iran nuclear deal back on the “right track.”

The United States unilaterally withdrew from the agreement, in May 2018, and reimposed economic sanctions on Iran; Tehran responded by relinquishing some of the restrictions on its nuclear activity stipulated in the agreement
