Giza May Conceal a Civilization 33,500 Years Older Than the Pyramids? New Scientific Discovery Sparks Debate

In a development that could potentially reshape our understanding of ancient civilizations, an international research team from Italy and Scotland announced the discovery of massive structures buried beneath the Giza Plateau. The find was made using ground-penetrating radar (GPR), and may point to the presence of a hidden city or an underground tunnel network connecting the pyramids of Khufu, Khafre, Menkaure, and the Sphinx.

Filippo Biondi, a radar expert from the University of Strathclyde in Scotland, stated that the radar data indicates a 90% probability of structural connectivity between the detected formations. He noted a striking similarity between the underground features identified beneath the pyramids of Menkaure and Khafre, suggesting the existence of an architectural network beneath the surface.

While the discovery has garnered significant attention from academic and media circles worldwide, it has been met with skepticism from several Egyptian archaeologists. Leading the critics is Dr. Zahi Hawass, who described the findings as “scientifically unreliable” due to the lack of tangible physical evidence and the absence of peer-reviewed publication.

Giza’s Numbers Ignite a Historical Debate: A 33,500-Year Gap Challenges the Timeline

The most striking aspect of the research is the team’s estimation that the structures may date back to approximately 38,000 years ago. This would place them some 33,500 years before the traditionally accepted date for the construction of the Giza pyramids, which are believed to be around 4,500 years old. This discrepancy significantly challenges the established archaeological narrative.

The researchers further linked their hypothesis to the “Younger Dryas Impact Hypothesis,” which posits that a major cosmic impact occurred around 12,800 years ago, leading to the collapse of earlier civilizations. Their argument draws on geological evidence from the Abu Hureyra site in Syria, as well as new interpretations of hieroglyphic inscriptions from the Temple of Edfu in Upper Egypt, which reference a catastrophic flood.

These theories, though unconventional, remain under academic scrutiny. The findings are yet to be formally reviewed by the scientific community, and if confirmed, could prompt a major reassessment of the historical timeline for the Giza Plateau—and potentially for ancient human history more broadly.
