Hamas Announces Exchange of Prisoner Lists with Israel in Sharm El-Sheikh Negotiations

Hamas announced on Wednesday the exchange of prisoner lists with Israel during the ongoing Sharm El-Sheikh negotiations concerning the situation in the Gaza Strip.

Taher al-Nono, a senior Hamas official, stated that the movement’s delegation showed “positivity and responsibility” to achieve progress in the talks, highlighting the mediators’ efforts to remove obstacles to implementing a ceasefire agreement.

Al-Nono explained that the discussions focused on mechanisms to end the conflict, the withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip, and the prisoner exchange file between the two sides. He added that an atmosphere of optimism prevailed among negotiators following initial understandings reached during the meetings.

Egyptian sources reported that the Sharm El-Sheikh meetings began this morning, with the participation of Egypt’s General Intelligence chief, the Qatari Prime Minister and Foreign Minister, the Turkish intelligence head, the Israeli delegation, and U.S. envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.

The talks are focusing on guarantees to prevent the recurrence of conflict, the mechanisms for Israel’s withdrawal, and the delivery of humanitarian aid to Gaza.
