In a related context, the head of the Suez Canal Authority, Lieutenant General Osama Rabie, announced that the navigation traffic in the canal recorded, yesterday, Monday, new and unprecedented records in terms of daily transit statistics.

And he indicated that the canal “achieved the highest daily transit rate in the history of the canal, which is 107 ships from both directions without waiting, with a total net tonnage of 6.3 million tons, according to a statement issued by the Suez Canal Authority.”

He continued, indicating that “the number of ships crossing the canal from the north direction is 56 ships, with net tonnages of 3.4 million tons, while 51 ships cross from the south direction in the new navigational course of the canal, with a total net tonnage of 2.9 million tons.”

The head of the Suez Canal Authority also stressed that “the huge boom witnessed by the daily transit rates in the canal would not have been achieved without the new Suez Canal project, which succeeded in increasing the numerical and absorptive capacity of the canal, and raising the canal’s readiness to receive current and future generations of giant ships with large drafts.”
