Huge economic losses as a result of the earthquakes in Turkey and Syria, were they collected?

The Fitch rating agency estimated that the economic losses as a result of the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria could reach $4 billion or more.

According to the study conducted by the agency, the sums that have been insured are much less, and may not reach one billion dollars, and this is mainly due to the weakness or lack of insurance coverage in the areas affected by the earthquake.

The agency is concerned with losses related to buildings, cars, production sites, etc. that can be covered by insurance, not the broader losses to the economy, which may be much greater than these numbers.
