In response to the escalation in Gaza… Upcoming French-Saudi conference to revive the political process based on the two-state solution

French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he held a phone call with Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, during which they condemned the resumption of Israeli attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Macron explained that both sides agreed to jointly lead a conference aimed at supporting the two-state solution and reviving the political process between the Israeli and Palestinian sides. The French president stressed the need to return to a ceasefire in order to secure the release of all hostages and protect civilians, adding that the discussions also covered the importance of cooperation between Paris and Riyadh regarding the future of Gaza.

The Israeli army had resumed its military operations in central and southern Gaza, which resulted in the death of more than 400 Palestinians in airstrikes on Tuesday, and 48 more on Wednesday, March 19, according to health sources. This marks one of the deadliest days since the war broke out in October 2023, threatening the collapse of the ceasefire that took effect last January.
