Iran comments on the arrest of an Afghan official

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Saeed Khatibzadeh said today, Monday, that Iran has not and will not allow its territory to be used against any other country.
This came in the context of Khatibzadeh’s comment on the incident of his country’s arrest of a former Afghan official in Tehran on charges of recruiting fighters for Ukraine, stressing that Iran did not accept the matter.
Regarding the Ukrainian situation, he also added that his country “believes that problems can be solved through diplomatic means,” at the same time referring to “the wars waged by NATO and the roots of the war in Ukraine, and that Tehran cannot accept unilateral sanctions against any country.”
On April 11, Afghan media revealed that the Iranian authorities had arrested Hashem Rais, the governor of Jowzjan province in the former Afghan government, after he was accused of recruiting fighters and sending them to participate in the fight with Ukraine against Russia.
According to sources close to the president’s family, the Iranian authorities seized $300,000 in his home.
A source close to the party of the head of “Janbesh” told “Sputnik” that the former Afghan official was arrested 3 weeks ago because of his statements about the problems of Afghan refugees in Iran.
The source denied, according to party officials, that he was a president who provided support in any way to Ukraine in the ongoing war with Russia.
Earlier, the Iranian Foreign Ministry called for securing its embassy and missions in Afghanistan, against the backdrop of demonstrations in front of diplomatic headquarters of Tehran, in protest against what they described as the mistreatment of Afghan refugees in Iran.
