Iran Conditions to End the War: Will Trump Respond?

Iran conditions to end the war have moved to the center of renewed diplomatic efforts after Tehran said it sent a set of demands to Washington through Qatari mediation and is now waiting for President Donald Trump’s response.
Mohsen Rezaei, secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council, said Iran wanted to end the conflict but paired the diplomatic offer with warnings that Tehran was prepared for another major military confrontation if U.S. attacks resumed.
Iran conditions to end the war: What has Tehran demanded?
In an interview with Al Jazeera, Rezaei publicly identified three principal Iranian demands:
- An end to the war on all fronts.
- The release of frozen Iranian funds.
- An end to the U.S. naval blockade.
Rezaei said Qatar had conveyed the conditions to Washington and that Tehran was awaiting Trump’s response.
In a separate statement, he said Iran had transmitted a total of seven conditions for renewed negotiations, but he did not publicly disclose the complete list.
That means only part of the broader Iranian proposal has been detailed publicly so far.
Qatar and Pakistan remain key mediators
Qatar and Pakistan have continued efforts to reopen negotiations following the collapse and expiration of an earlier memorandum of understanding between Iran and the United States.
Rezaei said contacts with mediators were continuing.
Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi is also expected in Tehran, although Iran’s Foreign Ministry said the visit is officially focused on bilateral relations and previous agreements and did not confirm that he would carry a specific new U.S. proposal.

Diplomatic opening comes with military warnings
Rezaei also said Iran had changed its strategy toward Washington following the breakdown of the previous agreement.
He claimed Iran recently tested an anti-ship missile near a U.S. naval vessel or aircraft carrier and said Tehran was better prepared for renewed American air attacks.
The United States had not publicly confirmed those claims at the time of publication.
Rezaei also warned that any new confrontation could involve U.S. bases and commercial interests in the region, while at the same time saying Tehran’s new strategy aimed to bring the war to an end as quickly as possible.
Nuclear treaty remains part of Iran’s pressure strategy
On nuclear policy, Rezaei said Iran had not decided to withdraw from the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty.
However, he warned that future U.S. actions could push Tehran to reconsider its position.
He said Iran’s declared nuclear doctrine had not formally changed, although his comments left open the possibility of future changes if military and economic pressure intensifies.
Naval blockade remains a central obstacle
Ending the U.S. naval blockade is one of the most significant publicly disclosed Iranian conditions because of its impact on oil exports and shipping.
The dispute is closely tied to the Strait of Hormuz, which has become a central pressure point in the conflict between Washington and Tehran.
The diplomatic initiative also comes immediately after Trump signed new legislation expanding U.S. economic pressure on Russia and extending sanctions measures on Iran. Profile News covered the legislation in its report on the new U.S. sanctions law targeting Russia and extending measures against Iran.
Will the conditions restart negotiations?
Washington has not publicly accepted Iran’s terms or announced a new round of negotiations.
Tehran’s message therefore combines two tracks: an offer to re-enter diplomacy through mediators and a warning that Iran remains prepared for further military escalation.
The next major development will depend on Washington’s response, particularly as world leaders gather in New York for the United Nations General Assembly.
